The actor met his partner after he served in the Vietnam War, from 1968 to 1969. He became a part of the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts (PCPA) soon after, getting into theater acting.
Their first meeting came in 1978 when they both were attending PCPA in Santa Maria, California. McLarty talked about their first meeting on a Facebook post in August 2014.
On August 13, 2014, McLarty posted their picture from a PCPA reunion they attended. "Troy and I met there in the summer of 1978. Yikes!" she wrote in the caption.
After this, they got married and have walked the red carpet together occasionally.
They are not that outspoken a couple when it comes to their family life. It's not known whether they have kids, although it might be worth noting that they do have fur babies.
Before meeting his current partner, Evans was in another relationship. She, too, was from California.
